Hispanic Heritage
Host Tamra Fatemi-Badi welcomes Maria and Larry Terry to her home kitchen. Maria is originally from Honduras and will share her recipe for Enchiladas Hondurenas, as she and Larry talk about their Hispanic heritage and culture through food and family.
About the guest chefs
Maria Terry is originally from San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She came to Brooklyn, New York, with her family at six years old. Maria is an HR Business Partner at the University of Virginia. Before starting her HR career, Maria served in the US Army for four years on active duty and three years as a reservist. Maria is an Iraq war veteran and is an advocate/spokesperson in the Veteran community. Maria earned her M.B.A. with a concentration in Human Resources and a bachelor’s degree in business management while studying at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. Recently, Maria co-created the Latinx Employee Resource Group at UVA. Maria aims to help promote the inclusion, development, and empowerment of the Latinx employee population at UVA and the UVA Health System.
Larry D. Terry II, Ph.D, joined Penn State University as the vice president for Outreach in January 2023. He grew up in San Jose, California with his Mexican-American maternal side of the family, and over the course of his career has worked to address issues of equity and access in minority communities across the United States. His lives with his wife Maria and their two kids in State College, PA
