Community Outreach and Education Committee

MEMBERS: Ilona Ballreich, Carline Crevecoeur, Sherry Delgrosso, Kelly Hastings, Gary Miller, Joseph Nairn, Jennifer Neely, John Pozza, Sara Songer, Donann Stoicovy, Kate Bennett Truitt

PURPOSE: The Committee serves as an overarching body to guide strategic efforts at the station to strengthen our education services and community outreach efforts.

CHARGE: The Committee, in coordination with our Community and Educational Services team, will provide guidance as we work to strengthen our education and community outreach efforts. Our strategic areas of focus include promoting early childhood education (school readiness, healthy bodies, and resilience); producing and distributing STEM resources for K12 students and teachers; and finding ways to better serve learning families in our distributed rural coverage area. The Committee will also provide insights as we plan the annual schedule of events (i.e. A Taste of Innovation, Eventapalooza) and, participate in one or more event committees. The Committee will offer information about their communities’ values, unique features and history, annual community events, and what may motivate their community to support WPSU.


Government Relations Committee

PURPOSE: The Committee serves to promote and advocate the interests of WPSU Penn State to local, state and federal representatives

CHARGE: The Committee, along with the station liaison, shall monitor all federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments that may affect WPSU Penn State. The Committee will coordinate with the University’s Government Relations Office to communicate WPSU views on information policy issues to all levels of government. The committee will meet during scheduled Board of Representatives meetings and develop a report to be presented to the whole Board. As needed, the committee will work as advocates for WPSU with elected officials and be asked to join lobbying efforts and attend in-person meetings with elected officials.

PURPOSE: The committee serves WPSU by suggesting and cultivating relationships that enhance private philanthropy; building financial support for the production, broadcast, and educational services of the station.

CHARGE: Members will be asked to be facilitators and “open doors in your community” by supporting Individual and Corporate Giving through membership, annual leadership giving, planned giving, endowments, Broadcast, digital content and production underwriting and through financing and trade for special events and opportunities.
