“The Hungriest State” Free Screening Event

Tuesday May 28th, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

100 Innovation Blvd, State College, PA 16802

Tuesday May 28 is World Hunger Day and WPSU will be hosting a FREE screening of the film The Hungriest State. The 4-part film series examines food insecurity in Mississippi, highlighting different perceptions, causes, impacts, and solutions to one of the critical issues facing the Magnolia State.  We will screen the first episode, The Last Supermarket.  This episode focuses on what happens when Clarksdale’s only full-service supermarket closes. Learn how community-based programs were able to fill in the gaps.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by WPSU’s Anne Danahy.  Panelists will join us from the State College Food Bank, Penn State Extension, Northern Blair Backpack Program and the YMCA Anti-Hunger Program.  A complimentary reception will follow.
