Illinois is a reliable Democratic state in presidential elections and has a statewide race for U.S. Senate this year. Incumbent Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin is running for reelection. The state has 18 congressional districts. Illinois has no partisan voter registration, and voters can choose to participate in either major party primary.
