Group Volunteers

If you would like to sign up as a group, please email Toni at wpsuvolunteer@psu.edu.

Group volunteers play an integral role in WPSU’s success by answering phone calls from contributors to WPSU during TV and Radio Membership Drives.

When your group or organization volunteers for WPSU, your group will:

  • Build team spirit and have fun!
  • Achieve visibility as a supporter of public broadcasting’s programming and services.
  • Receive on-air recognition and thanks for your volunteer commitment on TV or FM-Radio.
  • Enjoy food and refreshments.
  • Get a ‘behind the scenes’ look at broadcasting.

Members of a group, organization or business (and their friends and family) who are 14 years of age or older are invited to volunteer during WPSU’s Television and Radio Membership Drives.  Youth between the ages of 14 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during their shift.

Television Membership Drives

TV Membership Drives occur in September, December, March and June. Volunteer groups provide six to nine people for shifts of 3-5 hours during weekday evenings, weekend days or weekend evenings. A typical evening shift is 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm, though earlier shifts may be available.

Radio Membership Drives

Radio Membership Drives occur in October, and April. Two to five volunteers are needed per shift. Volunteer shifts typically last three hours and are available throughout the day from 6:30 am to 8:00 pm.
